What protein skimmer are you using and for what size tank?

I have a Red Sea 525 and I am using a Bubble Magus Curve 5. I have had it for 6 months so far and works great!

Also looking for nano or protein skimmer recommendations for a small reef tank?

I use an ice cap k3-250 HOB on my 75 and a ice cap k1-50 on my 20 gallon. I’m setting up a 60 that I will be putting an icecap k1-130 on

I just installed the Bubble Magus Z6 last night on my 50 gallon. Upgraded from the SCA skimmer that came with my tank. It’s still breaking in and spewing clear skimmate so I can’t say much on performance yet but this skimmer is sweet! Super silent. You can hear the bubbles going but can’t even hear the pump. It has a crazy square Z shaped design too. Really cool skimmer.

I’m running a Reef Octopus Regal 150SSS on a 66g tank with a 20g sump. Its my first DC pumped skimmer and I’m very pleased with it. It’s super quiet. I was afraid it would be too much for my tank but with the pump cranked all the way down it’s perfect. As I get more livestock I can turn it up to pull more.

I have used Tunze DOC skimmers with great success, they are efficient and quiet. They fit into my AIO design tanks.

I have a 20L with a Tunze 9004 and a Tunze 9012 in my custom 65g and 60g frag tank. I have also used a reef Octopus 110EXT in the 2 larger tanks with great success but recently switched back to the Tunze 9012.

On a side note I also modified a Tunze 9410 to fit in a 80g AIO and it was a beast of a skimmer for that tank!

We run Lifereef skimmers built and sized to order for our 550+ gallons of water. We also use external buckets with optical sensors to control cutoff if they pull too much so no overflowing issues. Love these skimmers- they work great and are very efficient and easy to control and break in and help maintain good pH levels.

Have a 125 tank with a reef octo sro 2000 ext sitting in my closet for a year now. All my levels stay where I want them so haven't hooked it up.

I have a Reef Octopus Regal 150SSS that runs great on my 90. A reef octopus 202s on my 120 which is a beast. I also have an Icecap K1 160 on my red sea. The icecap works great but it is not built as well as the reef octopus skimmers

I love the built in float switch in the collection cup. It’s a nice feature.

After a year of cheap modded aquatic life skimmer upgraded to aquamax hob 1.5 for a 40 gallon AIO. Microbubbles eliminated in fuge chamber and it gives another gallon of volume. Cup lasts abt two weeks and it pulls some SLUDGE

Running the Red Sea RSK-300 on a low boy and sump right now. Really quiet. Love the cup cleaner that is included; all i have to do is turn it. Controls are easy. And i great a really good skim all the time. Routine cleanup maintenance and it is still perfect. Planning on adding one more tank to it.

Every time a question like this is asked, the result is the same. Everyone loves what they use. Kind of like going into a truck group and asking which is the best.

I'm running a Simplicity DC240. It has given me 4 years of flawless performance.

I’ll tell you I hated my RO SRO and my Vertex Omega skimmers. I’m not sure if I just over sized them for my tank but they never skimmer consistently.

Currently I'm using a Maxpect Aeraqua Duo. It is WAY oversized for my 40gallon tank. BUT the dc pump and the excellent water height adjustments make it great for anything (I've had it on larger tanks as well). honestly I feel this skimmer is overlooked by so many . It has REALLY good build appointments and functional details that every skimmer should have.
I say this coming from using BubbleKing for a decade too.
Don't overlook it because its not mainstream :)

When I last used a skimmer, back in 2008, it was a super reef octopus 3000int.

Since then I've always run an ATS instead.

I use Deltec 600i for my Waterbox 105.4 gallon system. I love how quite it is and it pulls great skimmet.

I have the Icecap K2-200 on a 180 gallon reef tank, but I found it wasn't quite enough. I now have the reef octopus 300-INT sss 12" skimmer that's rated for 450 gallons heavy bioload. I know it's overkill, but it's got the adjustable varios controller so I can turn it down on this tank. My thinking was that if I get a skimmer that's too big I'm ready for the next bigger tank! Haha

I just recently replaced my RedSea Skimmer 300 with a Bubble Magus Elite 5. I've been very impressed, the Magus works actually better with my Reefer XL200 than the RSK300 that was over a $100 bucks more expensive. So far I do not regret the switch.

How does it work for you on your 75 Gallon. I have a heavy bio load IM SR-80 and I was between the K3-250 and the K3-200, the K3 heavy says 60 gallons and the 250 says 140 gallons. I would be upgrading from Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB, which I feel has horrible air suction. thank you
