Is adding a skimmer to my 65 gallon FOWLR tank a good idea. NEVER HAD A SKIMMER BEFORE.

It is not only a good idea it is imperative. A must have piece of equipment or your fish will snuff it but quick.

Above is IMHO.........better?

It is IMHO that a skimmer is as essential as water. Do you need one I suppose not but it is a HUGE piece of the puzzle ok?

Thanks to those who felt like it was thier duty to inform me of my transgressions I apologize deep from the heart. I feel so stupid now.

Gonna go take down my tank I've had enough.

I would only get a good skimmer. Don't waste your money on a inferior skimmer.

IE. A Seaclone would be a waste of money IMO

I would say you need a good skimmer on a 65. I think it would take too much effort keeping up with water quality by water changes alone. The Coralife Super Skimmers are good for the money. Plus the replacement parts are easy to get. I have several friends with them and they seem to work pretty well.

Just look at what a skimmer pulls out of a tank, then decide if you think it is needed or not. Once you see and SMELL the crap, you'll want one!

LOL! If you do decide to taste it, you may want to have a really stout chaser ready

A seaclone is not good enough. Most of us have tried one at some point. Infact, if you want one, I'll sell you one.

A better skimmer will work A LOT more efficiently and will actually do what you paid for it to do.

I used a seaclone on a 29g in college. I thought it was fine until I bought a berlin turbo XL. This thing was a beast compared to the seaclone. Now, there are much better stuff out there, but a seaclone is not worth it.

If ya want the XL, I'll give you a deal on that.
