Protein Skimmers

I’m looking at adding a Protein Skimmer to my sumpless 40B. I’m leaning towards the Tunze 9004DC because of the surface skimmer feature and I’m curious about your thoughts? I’m a little hesitant to get a HOB skimmer, but if I did the Aquamaxx 1.5 would probably be it. Any thoughts or opinions on either model or a different one? I can’t convert to a sump unless I move the tank and I’m not there quite yet.

I’ve got an aquamaxx 1.5. It pulls some good skimmate on my lightly stocked 20 g. I feel the skimmer is way over sized for the tank to pull consistently. It’ll be up for sale soon if you’re interested.

I had a Bubble Magus it it over flowed all the time. I’ve never had the aquamaxx overflow

I might be. I’ll need to measure the space behind my tank to see if it would fit. It seems like must of the nano skimmers are out of stock on BRS

I have the aquamax 1.5 on my 28g nano and It does a great job. It's the first time I've been impressed with anything other than tunze.
