My sump is drilled for 1 inch bulk heads, I am going to use a Reeflow Dart for the pump. The dart has a 2 inch inlet. Do I need to drill the sump bigger or will the 1 inch be OK?

you need to drill bigger. General rule of thumb is never to restrict the pump intake. There are exceptions but none we use in the hobby.

It is a acrilic sump how would I drill it and keep the bit centered?

Edit: And should I put a ball valve before the pump?

Put a piece of wood in the inside of the sump, drill the bit into the center of the wood

Agreed, but if possible, put the wood OUTSIDE and drill inside tout outside while the sump rests on the wood...

I always put a ball valve and union on the input and output of an external pump so it can be removed for cleaning without have to drain anything.

+1000. This always works very well.

You can drill the hole in the wood first then clamp it over the existing hole and use the wood as the guide.
