Ok Guys Tomorrow I pick up my Big Tank (Finally). It's an All Glass Reef Ready 180 Gallon!

It's going to take me forever to get this thing set-up and I'll start a Build thread once I get closer to actually being able to do anything, but for now I need to know what my next purchase should be?

I'm guessing I need to start thinking about a sump right?

I'm Basicly just wondering what order I should start buying things, that way I can start setting Money aside each week for a New piece of equipment..

Thanks for the opinions so far guys! I guess it would help if I told you also that i plan on this being a Completely Mixed Reef. Plan on going for SPS up near the top, with Softies and what not down lower.

I actually thought since I'll have the tank I should probably start working on the stand for it, but then I was thinking what if everything I need doesn't fit under the tank.

Maybe I just need to start making a list of things I'll need first.. I'm not even sure I know what all I need maybe that is the question I should have asked..

Skimmer comes next for me. It's going to be a critical part of the tank. You can use it while cycling your LR and move it to the tank later.

Get as big a sump as you can; you'll want and need the room.
You won't need lighting for a while, so you have time for them.

5 Replies in and haven't heard yet the #1 Thing I must have before I even start!

I just realized I haven't re-newed my ARC Memebership!!!!!

Patience is #1
With all you do to enjoy the hobby.
Tank is set, so I would get with a certain someone offering a stand and canopy build at their place to do one 36 to 40in tall and then work on the skimmer. Sump comes next to accomidate the skimmer and then the rest depending on your inhabitants. Whether it be flow, lights, ato, reactor, lucky rabbits foot etc

Is it just me or did the Raj just tell me I need to go with Skimmer and Sump first, You could have at least dropped a name in there like check out MRC for what you need.. LOL! Just kidding.. You must have known I've been checking out That Ocean Force 300 and that MR-2R. Probably gonna get with you on a custom sump as well, going for a real clean set-up and I just don't think I would do a good Job at creating one out of a prefab tank..

By the way Look under my Avatar !!! I'm once again a member of the ARC... I don't even know when my membership expired, been on here for about 3 years, but I changed bank accounts so I'm sure my membership just couldn't renew..

Woo-hoo, welcome to the club :D

MRC? Yeah, I've heard of those guys..word is they make some really awesome sumps and skimmers :D

Raj is right skimmer is next in line for me two. I have a 180 gallon with an MRC-2 dual beckett. Its also nice becuase I can run my ozone right into it. My trates are alway o and I feed daily. Great product if you dont mind a little maintinance. Im pretty hands on so I dont mind.
