Finally getting around to setting up my Subcurrent filter in my 10g tank. I'm going to run some kind of media on the bottom level, and some polyfill on top, but curious what media to run? The Purigen is rechargeable, and that's a plus. Any thoughts or what media is anyone else running in a nano AIO tank?

Currently I'm running a Whisper 60 HOB with regular filter pads (no carbon) and I only rinse them out every other week in old saltwater from weekly water changes. I don't have any algae issues and haven't in some time in this tank, and don't want cause any by changing things up, but the in tank filter will look so much better and hopefully keep my surface a littler cleaner.

I like chemipure.Just bleach it every 6 months and never have to replace it.

im sorry I think i ment to say purigen. Its all white and in a little bag. not sure how great it works but i bought a bag a while ago and use it in my nano.

Yup, already planning mods for it. I'm going to remove the suction cups and use some magnets from a Koralia Nano pump that burned up on the inside, and some rare earth magnets on the outside. Already tested it on a spare 10g and it holds the filter up just fine. I think the biggest thing I need to get is an ATO since this box will act as a sump and will show all the evaporation...been needing one of those for a while now anyways...

Finally got the Subcurrent filter in. I only needed one of the Koralia Nano magnets along with some other rare earth magnets on the outside. Overall I'm very pleased with the Subcurrent filter. I'm currently just running the carbon it came with and the filter pad also, but I'll get some polyfill soon enough. I couldn't get it to fit exactly in the corner like I wanted because of the silicone around the rim and corner, but I think this works. This thing looks pretty proportional to an overflow in a larger system and I think it will work nicely for what I want. Pics for your enjoyment.

Its just a matter of what media you want to be replacing. Let me know how that thing performs. I need something to surface skim in my next tank.
