it seems to me that you should know that some LFS are out to make a quick sell. its like any other sales business. some good and some bad.
this is where your own education from reading, web searches, a local forum, or whatever, will help you see the red flags as they fly.
this is also where you take the opportunity to find a lfs that you trust and give them your business. me, i deal with 3. keeps my options open incase i need something asap and one store doesnt have it.
with this plan the LFS gets to know you and your setup, what your able to handle and what you need more experience on incase you try to buy something your not ready for.
i will not defend chris as i know you werent trying to say anything
questionable. i will say that chris is in up to his eyeballs in this hobby
and shoots straight with you.
i went to a BIG sale a yr ago ok. there was a rep for a chem company there. i didnt know what i was doing at the time and he talked me into over $100 worth of chem's. i told him all i had at the time was a mushroom and a zoa coral. he had me buying 2 part, iodine,cal, phyto foods, all kinds of stuff. i got on here just after and found out i didnt need any of it.
zero, nada. i was pissed. the rep has a good reputation in these parts.
i still have the stuff. cant wait until i see him at a BIG SALE again.
i will insert all these bottle sideways. to me, he took advantage of me not knowing the hobby or what i was doing. he made a quick sale and was on to the next customer. so there i set, in my opinion he stole money from me. plain and simple. no other way to look at it. at the same time i let him because i was buying uneducated. so maybe i'll go a little easier on him when we meet again.
