Just trying to do a little research on the best way to treat and QT new fish.
I have a 10 gal ( for really small fish ) and a 20 gal ( for larger fish) set up and running with a hang on the back Aqua 50 3 stage filter on each and a heaters and small light . When I treat I take the carbon out and leave the sponge in I have the tank seeded with Matrix that I have several bags in my DT and I take one out and seed as needed.
I also leave a couple pieces of live rock in the QT's with a couple crabs and snails while nothings in treatment. I take the rock and the crabs and snails out when I treat ( After I use the tank I bleach for 48 hr. and run Prime double dosed for another 48 let dry out for a week and start the process over.
I usually just look at the fish and see if there is any need to treatment and stick it in the tank for couple days and treat as needed.
I usually just do Dips and not run anything in the QT continous and I am thinking that it would probly be better to just run something in the QT and let the fish stay in for a few weeks. What do you reccomend?
I have tried Bifuran Dips ( bacteria) , Fresh water Dips , cuparmaine (Ich) dips and Para Guard ( Bacteria, Fungus, etc) dips I have ICH -X but I have not used it yet. ( I believe it is a Formalin based product).
I usually dip them for 2-8 mins fresh orwhen treating in other products 10-20 mins and then add back in the QT and repeat daily until they get better or sometimes unfortunately pass away.
I will be purchasing several more fish in the next couple mths and I am trying to make sure I treat them the best way to help them live and get / stay healthy. There is so many diffrent chemical treatments and ways to do this I am going bonkers trying to make sure I do it the best way:o

I am trying to see how others treat and are successful at this process
Thanks for sharing
