QT tank, what do you use?

Just wanted to get an idea of what kind of set-up folks use for QT. Size tank, amount/type of filtration, leave it set-up all the time, sand?, rock?, decoration?, etc.

Also, how long do you typically QT for? Do you change that based on where the livestock came from?

Ive got a 10 gallon set up with a HOB filter, heater, small powerhead...

I put a 2" pvd "T" in it for the fish to hide since I dont have sand/rock in it. Depending on where the fish come from depends on the length I quarantine. I got a couple clowns from Bud on here and they went directly in the Display, but something from a LFS I QT for a week minimum

Ive got a 25 gal eclipse with LED, some live rock and a small sandbed (nothing i would have a hard time throwing out) and I leave it up permanently. I just change the water when I do my DT and use the DT change water.

Before I took down my 120G, I had a 29G plumbed into the whole system for a QT. It had sand, rock, a powerhead, heater, and a PC Fixture. When I wanted to QT I shut off the return and took out enough water to get it below the overflow so it was a stand alone tank. I did regular water changes using water from the display system. I usually QT for a minimum of 4 weeks and once I am sure everything is ok I remove a lot of the water and replace it with water from the display, then I open the return to a trickle and let it slowly become part of the system once again. I still keep it there for another week or two and then introduce to the display. It never happened, but I was prepared to totally empty it and start over if I had any concern that something nasty came in with a fish I was QTing.

Great minds... I am planning this exact same setup in my new build (right up to using a 29g). I had never heard of anyone else doing it. I am going to save and use my RKL to run the QT once I switch to the RKE on the new tank.

I've got a 20 long with an HOB filter, powerhead for circulation, sand bottom and about 10 lbs of live rock in it. It's up and running all the time. I try to keep a damsel in it just for the heck of it but I used the little guy on my last tank crash as a test. I normally QT for a week before putting a fish in my DT.
