I have a deep blue 57 rimless and I was wondering if the back panel of glass is tempered. I know I could look with polarized lenses but the back panel is panted black. I have sent an email to Deep Blue and I am awaiting a reply. I was just curious if anyone (maybe a sponsor) know for sure.

According to this, it is not:

The reply from Deep Blue:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Deep Blue Professional.

Please see the attached tempered glass chart for information regarding the tempered status of all of our tanks.

You can also see this information in the resources section of our website &#8211; http://www.deepblueprofessional.com">www.deepblueprofessional.com</a>.

Both the reef ready (13057) and non-reef (13058) versions are completely non-tempered.

Be advised that the tempered status listed there is for tanks as they are currently produced, and some older models may at one time have been produced with tempered glass panels where current tanks are not. It is always best to thoroughly examine the plate you intend to drill for the Tempered Symbol that marks all tempered panels on our tanks. An image of this symbol is shown at the bottom of the attached chart.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the help Demond!

This is the overflow I decided to go with. I am going to try and replace the stock overflow with this one asap!

Agreed! The stock overflow box almost takes up 1/6 of the entire tank volume!

I really like my 34 gallon, shorter version of your tank, but when I saw that overflow I went the the same solution ("ghost overflow") you did, I think your going to be happy with it.
