when you hook one up does it constantly run or is there a way to turn it off were it is not using water when you dont need it?

theres a off switch. do you have on in mind? i would suggest the AWI mighty mite. its very simple and easy to use. i have one and love it. its portable as well. AWI is our first sponsor on the sponsor page.

You need to manually shut off the supply water or install a float switch. If you do it manually there is a good chance you will forget it at some point and cause a bit of a flood. Luckily, it's only fresh water that spills. I bought a float switch from DrsF&S a long time ago but still haven't installed it. I will probably get around to it when I have to change out the filters.

finally is the word andy. it took a while but i got everything i needed to get it going. i need to get with you on something and get your opinions.
as always you opinion is well respected or i wouldnt ask for it andy. :yay:
i do have to wait on a PM back from somebody to make sure its a go.

oh man, you had to ask. my water maker is in the shower at this time.
she handles all that stuff. the first week the ro/di was running i bet she made enough for 1/2 the forum. lol it was funny. ran it over several times. well, i did anyways. i want one of those TDS meters for myself. nice thing to have. i think i need to start putting those numbers in my log book.
i keep a log on my tank. i test weekly and put down the results.
when fish/coral are added i log it as well as the readings at the time.
this way if something goes wrong i have info on hand.
jenn has pounded that into my head. when i ask a question in troubled times, READINGS READINGS READINGS.
she should be proud of me.

I just started keeping my log in excel. I make notes if I dose anything, change anything etc. This way when someone ask "what are your params" I can give several test back as well. I figure when I have coral and need to start more dosing it will help me establish how much i need to be dosing and on what schedule. Very useful. Now I just need an RODI... last major thing on my list.

go look at AWI. they are the first sponsor on the sponsor page.
i have their mighty mite. love it. its portable as well.
