Wasn't sure but can someone let me know if it is possible to add fresh water to a saltwater tank, during water changing? If so what would be a recommended mixture amount?

During a water change? You add fresh for top off due to evaporation.....Is your salinity too high? and want to lower it? Not sure what your searching for.....

I am sorry, I was going to add fresh water due to evaporation, will the tank be ok?

Depends on how much you've let evaporate. You want to keep up with this regualarly so that you aren't adding massive amounts at one time and changing your salinity drastically all at once, but other than that you're fine.

Adding water for evaporation is quite common. I'd say we all do it. I'm not fancy with an ATO but I usually add about 3 gallons every other day to a 100 gallon system.

ok, cool thanks... Yea i have a 75 gallon and i just wanted to top it off... Shocking how fast it evaporates !!!

you must add fresh water to make up for evaporated water in your salt tank.

If you already know the following just iggy it haha.

As your water evaporates from the tank it leaves behind salt. Because of this your salinity in the tank will slowly rise as the water level in your tank drops because of evaporation. In order to keep water in your tank, and keep salinity at a constant lvl you add fresh RODI water to your tank as it evaporates.

DO NOT add salt water for evaporation. If you do you will continually be adding salt to your tank and the salinity will rise too high.

AGAIN, going to state this just IN CASE you dont know (but you probably do)

this is DIFFERENT from water changes. During a water change you drain some of the water directly from your water system and REPLACE IT WITH SALT WATER.

Sorry for the elementary post, but I just didn't want to assume anything.

GL!

Naw, i didn't know Snowman. Thanks, its better for someone to fill me in before jack something up :)
