Question on Apex cables?

Are Apex Aquabus cables nothing more than standard USB cables or are they somehow special?

I seem to remember watching a BRS video that said they were not the same.

Could be wrong. Hopefully an expert will chime in.

They are different. I can't remember the exact reason. . However, the good news is Mono Price carries the apex cable for a fraction of the price.

The only thing to look for is passive USB cables. Some longer USB cables are active with an amplifier or repeater built in. DO NOT USE ACTIVE USB CABLES! The amp/repeater will put voltage down the wrong wires and you will damage your apex. The apex uses a standard USB cable but the wires carrying the voltage are not the same as USB.

Jeff... Non-amplified, non-powered, A male - A male, straight through cables. I believe a regular (short) cable will work. But do not plug a USB device into the Apex.

I recently bought a 75' cable from mono price. Didn't hasn't to worry about compatibility and it works great.

I bought the Non-amplified, non-powered, male - Female 15 ft extension cables for pennies at monoprice years ago. I just used the Aquabus short cable and plugged it into the extension. I have 5 EB8's running that way now for years with those cables installed.

As other members noted....make sure there Non-amplified, non-powered cables. If not, you'll will destroy your APEX unit.

I needed a cable yesterday to add in an EB4
I went to Frys and they had a USB A male - A male - 6ft for $2.98 and it appears to be working fine
