I am looking to get a submersible pump to put in my new sump. The DT is 180g. Anyone have any recommendation on what brand/gph pump I should get?

maby a large quiet one tho max flow on one of them is only 1330 gph at 0 head it may be hard to find them as big as you need

this place is probobly your best bet

I found a quiet one at dr foster moves 3300 gph at 0 head. Not so quiet though.

Hmm, looks like I may be better off drilling and using my external pump...

Any one know of any lfs around dunwoody that can drill a bulkhead for me, the sump is made f that hard plastic material.

all you need is a drill and a regular hole saw

I understand. Some one in your area has one I'm sure probably an arc member will help you. How many gph are you shooting for?

That is a good question as I really have no clue...What ia a good gph to shoot for, not including my powerheads?

I live in Sandy Springs and can drill the hole for you. A standard sch 40 1" bulkhead needs a 1 1/2" hole. I think you'd be fine with a 1" bulkhead for the return on a 180. That is what my 210 uses. LMK. If you plan on adding any other peripherals I can drill holes for them as well.

I see no reason for more than 900 gph . Nothing in the sump can process that much water anyway per hour . I would slow the flow down thru my sump and add the big pumps in either powerheads vortech type or closedloop my favorite I have a 150 gallon dt. and only about 800 gph running thru the sump and that is probably stretching it. But I do have a 6500 gph on my closed loop.

I went to see Allan at Atlanta reef, and he drilled the two holes for me, I decided to connect my wet dry to the sump.

The pump I have now is a Gen-X MK4, looks like it pumps 1190gph out.

My opinion is that is the perfect size.
