So I am looking to buy an RODI unit. I was reading about flush kits, and then took a look at how they work.

Then the cheap side of me came out and said - why do I need a flush kit when all I need to do is take off the flow restrictor when I wanted to flush the RO membrane? I just saved myself on a $10 add on.

Am I thinking correctly?

I think you are correct. You can also add a John Guest "T" ahead of the FR, with a valve on it. When you want to flush it, just open the valve. That way you don't have to take the FR off every time.

I bought one of these but not installed yet as I did not know that I needed a different FR. mine is in the connector and I need an external one.
