My Purple tang Barney(that's what my daughter named him)was found puffed up floating under the center glass brace today. I've had him for 5 years. Ironically, 2 days ago my wife and I(who never sits in front of the tank), complimented on how pretty the fish were. I had mentioned how hard it was to get the purple tangs at a good price because of all the restrictions imposed on the Red Sea. I am currently looking for a painless way to get my tongue removed so it doesn't happen again. I just don't understand why it happened. The only fish I introduced to my tank on Thursday was an aiptasia eating filefish, a mandarin goby and a diamond goby and they are fine. I don't get it. :shout:

Sorry for your loss.....never easy. Did you noticed any symptoms of downward spiral?

None. He was fine, eating and swimming back and forth. I didn't see any other fish messing with him. Really sucks. Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Edit:

I didn't, but I got them from a store that quarantines all fish before they go into their tanks.

Wow, that's really vexing.

You said it. I just don't understand what could of happened. Gets me thinking of the way it may have been caught, but to show so far along is frustrating.
