Is the new Radion 2 release the best light currently on the market? Does anyone know of anything better coming out soon? I have the Vortech w and they are compatible which is really nice.
I'm getting close with the set up of my sexy 55 gallon corner tank. Its very unique, an antique from the 70's. I don't want to take up space with a chiller in a 55 gal, hence LEDs.
Any feedback, suggestions and recommendations much appreciated.

i'd have to say that the RADIUM is the best light on the market, but thats just my opinon... ;)

I have radions over my 300 and reeftech's over my 120. Both tanks are tied into one sump, so they share system water.

Radions software is more user friendly but I must say that the reeftechs are a step up performance wise. The individual led lights can be programmed so you can really dial in the colors. I would look at reeftechs.

I've been looking at those as well. Can't find a release date or estimated price either.

I like the maxspect razor, amazing colors

If you are going to do LED, have reeferman (Reggie) build a DIY led system for you. He seems to have great success with his.

I don't know what he charges, but it will probably be worth it.

Yes, I ran it full with vinegar. and water for a week with no water problem. It's in very good condition for being so old. One small insignificant scratch, silicone looks new. The tank must have been in storage for years.
Thanks

That's what I'm looking at. They also dropped the price $100. Some sellers are selling there older models for same price to get rid of them, beware!

How do you feel about there customer service? I've heard negative issues including the fact that if its defective, you have to pay shipping to them and they return it by ground service. Surely you could pay to expedite shipping return.
There warranty exemplifies lack of concern for the hobby of reef keeping IMO.
I can get over this if there is positive feedback on the performance/function of the light as a whole.
Do you know when it will be available?
Thanks

I will contact him. If he can do better, I'm all for it

It would be convenient to use both Vortech products that can communicate wireless. They are releasing an option that will allow you to program, control etc. from your iPad/iPhone which is nice.

Plans are to add an Apex which with the Radion/Voetech it adds a wealth of ease of control. I don't know much about other lights and wireless communication.
I will check Reggie about above.

Thanks a bunch.

Hey you got a pic of your tank you can post? I would love to see it.

Sorry about all the questions but how long have you been using the light? Are you getting good growth and color? Would you buy the same light today or something different?

What types of SPS do you have?

Thanks, appreciate ya

+1 on the Maxspect Razor 160 watt 16000K. Growing SPS and all other types, even have SPS on the sand bed of a 125 gallon DT. Great color spectrum and built-in controllers.

That is very informative, thank you. From that information Reggie is the answer (DYI) depending on tank size and depth.

This brings up a good question;

Has anyone been running LEDs for over a year with success growing all types of SPS?

Thanks
