Got an RBTA 2 weeks ago, been doing pretty well. He positioned himself in a little cave and curls out during the day to get light and eats daily.
Every night he flattens out, poops and his mouth gapes wide open... Scares the **** out of me... He looks to be dying but then he puffs back up and seems fine... Sometimes he stays flat all night, other times he fills back up after 5 minutes of deflating... Someone please help lol

All tests were fine too... Temp consistant, 78.8 night, 79.2-.9~ day time...

Everything seems fine idk whats goin on..

I about died the first time mine deflated thinking it was dying. they usually do it twice a day. so this is normal. good lighting and water quality and don't forget to feed him and you should be fine.

Wow, ok very reassuring thank you sir!!

What about kinda loosening his grip on the rock while doing so?

This is not as common. Only had this happen twice, he kinda lets go for a while and reattaches.. Maybe just adjusting? Man anemones scare the hell outta me

Just be careful if your 'nem decides to take a walk, especially if they decide to climb onto a power head, aka Anemone Cuisinart.

He's already fluffing back up...
Anemone are some of the strangest creatures I've ever had the pleasure of caring for lmao

It's best not to feed it daily since you're mixing digested food and processed food wastes with fresh food.

It'd be best to feed your anemone every 2-3 days. This allows the anemone to process the food and time to dispose of the waste.

Since anemones have only 1 opening, they both receive food and remove waste through that 1 opening which functions as both a mouth and an*s.

Enjoy your anemone. They are facinating animals.

I hardly ever feed mine. Maybe once every few weeks and only a few mysis shrimp. Mine never seems to deflate either. I would cut back on the feeding as mentioned, especially if you have clowns hosting it.
