I have a RBTA and it's a little bigger than a plate( i.e. HUGE ). It will not split.
Any one know how to make it split? I know it can be cut but it's foot is embedded in a rock. Cannot get it out!!!! Any ideal to make it split?:shout:

As you know from the other thread, I'm in the same boat (not quite as big as a plate but it's big)... the keeper of mine's mother anemone says hers splits every time there's a shouting match in her house!

I've had her shriek at my tank twice now - nothing!

Now that's funny. I need to start a shouting match @ my house and see if it works. :yay:

Large waterchange with water with wrong salinity.
Will suck for anything else in your tank - but the nem will split.

Nope. All that did was cause a diatom bloom :(

LilRobb, that's dangerous...... lol.....lol.....

If the nem is healthy, just take the rock and nem out of the water. dangle for a min or 2 over a bucket and replace. Mine split every time I move them to a new tank, which has been a bit to often recently.

I would like to do that but the nem is in a base rock....

Any one ever tried to cut a piece off without the foot and mouth?I saw one in a basket once and a small piece was hanging out of the pond baskets andturned into another rbta about 1/2 the size of a pingpong ball

Not sure I've always heard with anemones you need a foot and mouth for survival however I know with mushrooms you can chop them up like a pizza pie and end up with 10 plus mushrooms

:confused2:

Sure fire way....pull it and cut it  No mess, no changing things around, no possibly causing a mini cycle/bloom in your tank.

Yep. There's an anemone fragging demo February meeting if you want to see how its done before you attempt it at home!

Feed it heavily for a week then do a big water change, if that doesnt make it split just grab a razor blade and go at it.
