I picked up a red sea 650 peninsula that had a failed seam and I’m in the process of rebuilding it separated the glass with the failed seam and resealed it using asi black aquarium silicone.

It took a lot of elbow grease and time to clean all the old silicone off and 3 attempts to get it right but tank is finally repaired and setting up for a few weeks.

Inspecting the stand I’ve found multiple points of structural weakness that may have contributed to the seam failure. This stand has the updated brace but the side glass panels float the whole distance.

I’m going to put a sheet of 3/4” marine grade plywood on the top with new neoprene foam oh top of that the plywood will support the whole bottom of the tank and hopefully this will solve the weak points. IMG_3743.jpeg

Speaking from experience I would go ahead and reseal every factory seam.
I’m in no rush to set it up so I may do that. I am currently rebuilding and reinforcing the stand and there are multiple issues that it appears redsea needed to address. The whole bottom glass pane has about 1/8” of droop in the middle as the way the stand is originally designed basically supported the sides separately from the bottom which stresses the silicone seems and eventually leads to this common failure

Working on the stand currently have a full size sheet of plywood that I will secure to the stand that will create a solid surface that will support the whole tank as one previously the sides were supported on each end of the cabinet and floated the whole width of the cabinet over the doors. This should eliminate the issue of the stress on the silicone I believe
