I will post some pictures tonight but wanted to put it out there, today. I have a fluffy red algae which is groing in several spots of my tank. It is pretty but prolific. Wondering if anyone has experienced this, what it is and what can get rid of it.

Fluffy...yeah it does sound like cyano. Don't spread it around if it is. It'll only spread more. If it is cyano, use a turkey baster and suck it off the sand and rock. If you brush it, suck it in with the baster. If you don't have any corals, kill the lights and cover the tank with a blanket for total black out for a couple days. Look at your flow in those areas or rock placement..all crucial to how cyano grows. Check out your phosphates as well...they need to be "0" or close to.

Somehow I get the feeling George knows what cyano looks like and is describing something else.

Yes I have fought my battles with the dreaded red slime. And this is no red slime. I will get some pictures. I'm convinced this is a red algae of some sort. It is attached very well cant blow or suction it off. I would leave it, but it spreads so fast.

Rhodophyta?

Sounds like the cotton candy algae. Turbo snails will eat it....but don't expect it to be gone over night. It took several weeks for mine to disappear with a few turbos.

This looks like my problem although mine is the darker red color. I guess I need to step up the turbo attack

Mine varied a little in darkness too. Try the turbos, they did wonders in my tank.

They are saints for cotton candy algae...4 of them cleared my 90g in a few weeks and it was completely covered to begin with.

...they are the devil for anything loose in the tank (frags, corals that just sit on rocks, etc) because they will just bulldoze down over & over again. Very annoying but worth it to keep the cotton candy away.
