Hello Fellow Reefers. I moved to Atlanta 6 years ago and have been out of the hobby since the move. Purchased a Red Sea 625 xxl with the new reefled 160s from LFS and I am going to document the build. The tank will be located on the first floor with the plumbing/sump in basement. Will be building a filtration room in basement. Question, are you allowed to post LFS name?

excited to see your new build, but I don't recall any reason why you can't post about a LFS as long as its not any slander. if its a bad experience and you have an issue, i suggest working with the LFS to resolve the issue before posting. you might have a more favorable response from them.

The LFS is Premiere Aquatics. They were great. I ordered the tank thinking it would be weeks before delivery due to Covid19. The tank arrived at LFS in days and I wasn't ready. Shout out to Jacob at Premier aquatics he kept the tank in storage until I was ready. I plumbed the tank to basement converting metric to imperial (usa) using ¾ inch return and 1 inch drains. Utilized Red Sea fittings to overflow and spliced new schedule 40 plumbing to include gate valve. Painted everything grey to match red sea fittings. Picture shows two ¾ inch connections, I change the right one to a 1 inch drain. Annoyed because I should have done all 1 inch. Lots of head pressure, have 9 ft basement ceiling and right angles. Purchased a ReeFlo Hammerhead/Barracuda Gold Hybrid 6000/4300 GPH. Any suggestions on how to attach external pump to Red Sea sump. The outlet on the left will be a pass through for Python Gravel Cleaner attached to basement utility sink. Attached pictures of floor reinforcement. I will post basement filtration framing in a day or so. Also purchased Red Sea Reefwave 45, I would like to mount it on the back wall. Is there any issues to consider with this location. Will add a second in the future.

Almost forgot I need to purchase a Black Friday Skimmer. Either the Reef Octopus Regal 200INT or Red Sea RSK600. Any suggestions?

The Red Sea sump’s glass isn’t tempered, so technically you can drill it for the external pump, like you would even for an acrylic sump.

I don’t see any issue why you can’t have the reef wave on the back glass other than I assume you can’t turn up the flow too much as the distance from the pump and the glass is short and could cause some splashing out the tank. Just my thoughts tho.

Reef Octo or Red Sea Skimmers are both great. Benefit of the Reef Octo Regal would be the DC pump you can control flow rate for dialing in to your needs vs the Sicce AC pump.
