I picked up this 65 gallon Red Sea Max a few weeks ago at Creation's warehouse sale, and I'm going to be setting it up in my front hall as my wife's tank.

I started her with a 5 gallon nano, and now she's hooked. :)

Here's the base tank after I vacuumed out all the debris:

I'm filling it with tap water for a leak test, and also to give the tank and equipment an acid bath.

65 gallons of water and a few ounces of muriatic acid should do the trick.

Also: I'm going to need some help lifting this sucker onto the stand. It weighs about 80LB.

Any volunteers? :)

The MakersLED heatsink fits just about perfect in the canopy.

This is a short piece I have, but I bet I could fit a longer single piece in.

The canopy has fans on either end, so the cooling air would flow straight through the fins.

Thanks - I'm in no particular hurry, as I need to clear out the area first...

But let me know when you're going to be near Lawrenceville/Duluth area.

Got the hood/canopy disassembled.

I'm going to gut the electronics, and see if there's room to replace the axial fans with blower fans, maybe with a shorter heatsink.

Something like this, but with two blowers at one end.

work your magic man, these are really nice tanks to work on, little tight in the back but it works.

I had a few 1' sections of MakersLED heatsink laying around from a previous project that never materialized...

I could fit a 36" piece if I cut a few inches off, but I'm thinking maybe two would be fine.

nice G! glad to see you back and posting. are you going to put the dream chips on those heatsinks or are you going to try something else?

Probably go with 4 of those new Lumia 5.2 LEDs, 2 per heatsink.

I ordered a pair of large 120mm blower fans, so they should do the trick.

The canopy has slots for 6 x 60mm fans, originally for the T5 lighting.. I think I'll install replacements for air flow.
