My brother who lives in Salt Lake City is going to upgrade his 29 bio to a 65 or 66 (cant remember) Red Sea Max 250. he is new to reefing and i am not familiar so lookign for feedback.

he said something about with this system you can go 6 months without a WC..... i told him he was an idiot.

I had one for well over one year now and I still like it. I do weekly water changes :)

Couple of issues with some pumps but Red Sea support is great, they replaced the skimmer pump out of warranty.

Feel free to ask any other questions about it.

Thanks misu - I am worried about the components like you talked about going bad or him not noticing...he is a lil stubborn talking about these bi-annual WC's - i thinkhe has a bad LFS out there giving bad advice...thats why he has a 1.5" Regal tang in a 29 gal cube which I have already said my peace about..

is it a sound investment for the money? they arent cheap but they are plug n play - thats why he wants it

well even if the pumps stop working it won't flood, that's the best part. There are 2 more pumps in there and you can see the flow most of the time but have him pay attention every week when he cleans the skimmer.

no tang in my RSM but I have a few smaller fish and a bunch of corals. I wanted the same plug and play and I couldn't be more happy about it.

don't think it's that expensive if you consider you get everything but salt water for the price, see pm

Thanks Misu....I will tell him to proceed with the purchase. and once i can talk some sense into him about the livestock and water change frequency ill feel better about him keeping live animals.......and he has kids!!

he is 45, im 31 so he doesnt listen to me and wants to give me noogies all the time... luckily he lives in Utah!
