I recently bought a small container of the Red Sea salt to try. I come from just the basic instant ocean mix. Tested the mix... and tested again... at multiple test kits. Alk is 15++ ( my guess would be 16.6-17dkh) calcium was 580-600 and mag wa 1600+. Is this even normal or was my batch just bad... figure I let everyone know so they can test their mix before they dump it in to avoid any issues.

is it the Pro? Ca and Mg were always off the charts when I was using that salt (over 500 & 1600) but I don't think I every saw alk quite that high.

I've been seeing a lot of people asking the same thing lately it seems.

I've never used the stuff. Those numbers would probably be good for a time if you were doing continuous auto water changes and nothing else. But for standard 10-20% changes it'll create havoc.
I've been using LA Salt for about 10 months now and I don't see a need to change.
