redoing rockwork

im considering redoing my rockwork to give me more places to mount corals. i'll reuse the rock i currently have then add dead rock that i have, will this cause a mini cycle adding dead rock? also will it disturb my sand be working the rock in to stabilize it?

You have a shallow sand bed, so little to worry about disturbing it. It's DSBs that you have to worry about...

If the rock is cleaning and free of organic matter, it will have no immediate impact on your tank in regards to a cycle
