I have been using Salinity for the past 18 months and love the high mixing levels, especially for Mag..

I keep seeing boxes of Reef Crystals going for $50.

Does anyone know how the levels for Reef Crystals compare and/or if there are any issues with all of a sudden switching salts??

Your levels will change a bit.........nothing catasrophic. I switch brands all the time and don't have any problems. Salt isn't really the most consistant thing out there.

But what does ALK, CAL, and MAG mix out at in a batch?

I've been use reef crystals for years and never had a problem. I've always ran a cal reactor though so my cal, alk and mag don't swing. Although I'm not running a cal reactor now and I'm still using reef crystals and everything seems fine. I haven't checked my params with this tank yet so I really wouldn't know where it stands.

Salinity lists the mixing parameters on the bucket. I wonder why it is so hard to find the parameters for Reef Crystals?

I had major issues keeping reef levels up with Instant Ocean salt. I switched to their Reef Crystals and that has helped tremendously. The only thing I can't keep at level is my Magnesium. It is usually around 1050-1150. Alk is normally at 10-11, pH 8.25, Sal 1.026, Cal 480.

So still haven't figured out how to keep it up. I was doing 10gal w/c once a week on a 46gal/10gal sump. So big changes but it didn't change the Mag.
I've started dosing and it's coming up so may have to get a dosing pump.
