So I've got an apex system and can view my tank parameters online...it's great and I couldn't imagine having a tank without one. This christmas i got a logitech alert security cam for my tank. If your not familar with these you can see them here:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/video-security-systems/add-on-cameras/devices/6700">http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/video-security-systems/add-on-cameras/devices/6700</a>
It got it set up and online in about 30 minutes and could view my tank from my droid in 15 more minutes. It's designed to suction cup to glass and view out a window. (It's marketed to be used as a security camara)

So like I do everyday after lunch I went online to look at the tank, and noticed I could see part of the center brace underwater. This could only mean one thing...the overflow was clogged somehow. I shut the return pump off and raced home, only to find a 1/2" snail stuck in the elbow of the overflow bulkhead. No water spilled, thankfully there's two overflows on the tank. I left the return off till after work when I extracted the snail, actually still alive. Then I called my Dad to tell him what a great gift it was. (he also has one on his tank)
So between the Apex and the now the camara I can see all aspects of my tank while away from home. Without the camera I would not have caught this potential disaster with just the apex. I love technology!

Whew!!! Great save!

Now you need a screen on that standpipe :)

I love the camera! Have you had any problem with the suction cup not holding the camera to the glass? For the price of the camera I would hate to see it fall to the floor.

So, what your saying is I can get this camera, stick it to the tank and view a live feed from work? Is there any other equipment needed?!?! Getting excited

Screens are already ordered for the standpipe.

Yes, The camera comes with a receiver that plugs into the wall outlet and your router...then just plug camera into outlet and it transmits wirelessly. Download the software and your done.

The sucion cup hasn't failed yet...its been stuck to the glass for two weeks now. My dad also has one and the camera hasn't fallen off in two months. He's also got one on the koi pond out back. You can add up to 6 cameras to the system and control them all online.

Building overflow covers covers will help keep fish and snails out.

TrendNet and Foscam both sell some cheaper setups that you can zoom/pan/tilt with. Definitely thinking about getting one for the sump room and one for the display.

the link is for the add on camera, is this what I would order?

Opps sorry, if you look here it should explain it better.

hhhmmm, I do like it and would work wonderfully with my set up. Im a little leary because of the reviews on that site though...

If you want to see the video of my tank, PM me and I'll send you the link and password to look at my tank.
