hey guys i think im going to make one of my spare tanks in to a refugium but my question is what do i need to put in it and can i just put it on my running system or will it shock my system and mess things up

no it should be fine to put on your system provided the water is the same. Just fill it with fresh saltwater and it will be like a WC. Put macroalgae in it to reduce phosphates and nitrates (edit:and grow pods) and leave the light on to help with PH swings caused from photosynthetic bacteria due to on/off cycles

Okay sweet thanks you for the help anyclue how I can plumb a septet tank as a sump bc I don't have from in my sump

retype that and double check to make sure you're being clear. I don't think I understand what you are asking. Any way you can plumb a tank to your sump? drill it and install a bulkhead. even easier, PM porpoiseaquatics about a drilled 40B sump.

My iPhone is stupid I'm sorry. What I was trying to ask was how could I plumb it being that I already have my sump running and the tank stocked and I'm going to be using a separate tank fOr the refugium

more than one way to skin a cat. to use a tank, gotta drill the side of the sump and the side of the fuge install bulkheads and plumb it together. Either that or pump water from the sump into the Fuge tank and have it sit higher than the sump and drain back via overflow

Okay well il plumb it bc it is al ready drilled in the back but... The refugium is 40g and my sump will be 20g lol
