Reefers, any suggestions on how to remove Bubble Algae? I have one big one about the size of a marble and a small one that is about the size as a ball bearing.
I remove the rock from the tank, remove with tweezers, dip in FW, dip in Lugols, and place back in tank. So far, where I've removed it hasn't recurred, and no other outbreaks in the tanks.
FWIW; my FW dip is just that, into the water, quick swirl and into the lugols and back in SW. No appreciable time in other than SW.
It's best to remove from your DT in case you break a bubble you isolate the spores elsewhere.
I had two about the size of marbles on a rock that could not be removed. It took a while, but the emerald crab finally devoured them, and the algae has not returned in over two months.
I don't know for certain if there are spores in there, but I'm still removing the piece from the DT to clean the stuff off.
Might be overkill, but it's working for me.
I typically pop them...but I do hav a UV and that may help keep what little I have at bay. Before though, I use to pop and suck them out while with the hose I use for water changes.
Reefers, I tried to remove the big one and boom it popped in my tank. The little one I removed with no problems. I will let you know if I see any problems.
