I’m transferring corals from my main display to my new smaller tank but I’ve got some encrusting like chalice that I need to remove. Anyone have any recommendations that won’t destroy the coral to remove?

You can try bone cutters to cut the rock, or use a drill to make holes around the coral to make a stress line to break it at.

In transferring my corals Glenn (Spike) said the same as Bobby. Drill holes around the coral to make stress points and use a hammer and chisel to pop it out.

The main problem is it’s on a large base rock so removing it will be near impossible lol

Removing the rock? Yah that's step 1... :)

Taking an encruster off the rock without damage can be tough. What technique and equipment you use to remove it will vary depending on the size of the rock and the coral. I think dremels always do a good job for me but I do have a gryphon wetsaw that you can use if that's appropriate for this.
