Return plumbing ?

Was wondering how most plumb there retuns into there sump.I have two coming in. I know how i want to run it,was just want to know whats best,pvc or flex.What dose most use to hold or mount there returns where it gose in sump.Thanks

I use the thick pond hose for my return. It's flexible, but not as much as the accordion-like flex hose.

My returns are hard piped but just because it was to confined a space to run flex otherwise I may have (and did consider it). For maintenance purposes, I needed to be able to completely remove some pipe and so I went with True Union valves, unions and hard pipe to make it about a 3 minute job.

Tthanks,Dose most just hang there returns in the sump.I wanted sume type of DIY mount.Or do they sell something to recieve two 1" pipe returns.

Most sumps come with something to hold it (if purchased new). If you bought used, you may have to make something. It's pretty easy to do. I made both of mine out of 1/4" acrylic.

I made mine out of a 40 breeder.I will just try to make something up.I got to tee off of one of the returns to supply 25% water to the fuge.Thanks for the info.

I used hard pipe with a ball valve to a sock, I tee'd to a refugium. If you don't haVe a refugium, the tee is still good, because you can bypass the sock, for whatever reason. Sock cleaning, feeding, just because you heard some are sock less, part time,. I used a 1 inch compression to double ended splice that I bought at the home supply. Be careful not to glue a fitting that blocks the bulkhead fitting from being serviced. It need to be removable. I glued in a segement of 1 inch pipe into the bulkhead drain slip fit and attached the compression fitting Then I glued up the rest of the supply manifold. I have seen a one sided compression fitting . there is a compression to slip fit somewhere out there. It's the best because it give head room.

All of mine is hard-piped as well. I have my return pumps a fraction of an inch off of the bottom of the sump to reduce noise and vibrations. With them hard-piped, they don't move, so no need for a mount...

Well that was my biggest issue.mounting the returns on the sump.Im just goimg to do like i did on my other to sumps.Just do it.Thanks.Im over thinking on this build.:unsure:
