Ok... i'm looking for something to make a hanging kit out of and i THINK its called REXROTH.. what it is is basically an metal square tube with a slot cut length wise down the length so that you can slide the head of a screw down it.

What you would do is use a bolt with a head that fit your light fixture and then slide the head in the end... You'd then be able to slide the fixtures back and forth.

Any help finding this kind of stuff?

Thanks,
B

If this is for the OR's check my build thread. I used something similar called 80/20 and modified the OR's. It was cheap and easy.

Not for OR :) its for something else :)

I think the term is T Slot Bar, but I'm having trouble finding it... id think it would be something HD or Lowes would carry

That's the stuff but man .... I just need a simple T slot

Closest thing I can find that's not a big clunky frame is this:

T track can be had at your local woodworking store. I hung my reefbreeder with it and it works great.

Is that the same stuff for suspended ceilings? Doesn't seem it would be heavy enough

Honestly, I don't recall what it's true purpose is. However, it's heavy duty and uses t track bolts in the slots. You can easily slide the light forward and back as needed. It holds my heavy 48" reefbreeder with absolutely no issues.

ebay has a TON of the stuff by 80 20 with every bracket and adapter you can imagine btw

just found it

NM, yeah, 80/20 is the stuff. There are tons of accessories, but it can be $$.

Lowe's & Home Depot call it Superstrut. We always called it C Channel it was designed for hanging heavy items from ceiling joists. Electricians use it to construct electrical chase ways.

If you are just looking for a single track made of AL go to any woodworking store. Ask for T-Track. It is used for miter gauges and things like that on Router Tables, Table Saws, etc.

That is a pretty expensive ugly way to go but is good stuff. It runs about $1.00 for the shallow But the channel is much wider than any bolt.
