Rimless tank canopy?

Recently picked up a 93 rimless cube. And my wife doesn't dig the whole exposed light thing so I'm looking to build a canopy but not sure if the tank will support a canopy? Anyone have any input?

I expect one by's and 1/4" plywood would be no problem. How thick is the glass?

1/2" I'm thinking. It's down stairs and I'm lazy lol

My wife had the same issue and made me do something. I had someone build this out of styrofoam for me. And he also painted it black.
