What are the pros and cons? Which is more user friendly? Gonna order one soon but just can't decide between the two. Any opinions would be great!

Apex. Apex. Apex!
Better controller with FAR better support.

I like the Reef Keeper stuff. I have had very good luck with them so far. I had a problem with the first one (Not their fault) and customer service was great, fast and the best (the only way it could have gotten better, they would have had to hand deliver it and install it) . I give them A++++

Without making it a popularity contest...
I've owned both. Reefkeepers are much easier and simpler to use/program, but the trade off is that they have less flexibility in what they can be configured to do. If you are going to end up with a complex system, go Apex. If you are going to be using it to simply control lights, fans, heaters etc (like most do), then the RK will be much easier to program.

That pretty much answered all of my questions. I now have to decide how complex or simple I want to make things.

Thanks for everyone's input.

i have a simple setup and i decided to go with an apex jr. i like the option of having internet controls right off the bat w/o having to purchase another unit. since i do travel for work i can monitor my tank from my phone

And if you (the OP) don't mind the outlet programming being a little less simple, that's what I'd do also. You never know what you'll ask of that controller as your system grows in the future.
