I'm looking for anyone that has the AWI Typhoon III that has experienced problems with vibration from the ASOV. I've changed the valve and I still get the vibration whenever the unit is almost finished filling a container. With a container used for an ATO it never really finishes filling since the container is supplying top off water so the vibration is constant. Anyone want to share your thoughts regarding this issue. I'm really thinking about getting a different brand if I can't solve the problem. I've been in contact with the manufacturer and they've given me a new valve with no luck so far.

Do you mean as in not enough pressure? I have an in-line pressure gauge mounted after the washer manifold and before it goes into the unit and it reads just short of 40#. I don't know what the pressure is on the outlet side of the unit but the filters are new.

Is the 40# when it is running. 40 is suppossed to be the bare minimum according to the directions on mine. Are you on a well or county water. Might try raising it 10 psi

The 40# is actually more like 38# and that is with the unit running and still filling up a container. How would I accomplish raising it 10# as you suggested? Do you also have the same unit?

I was told that homes within our area are actually rated to up to 80psi. Mine was set somewhere around 40. I located the PRV (pressure regulating valve) that's placed on the main water line coming into the house and turned the screw to raise my water pressure to about 65. Seems to be working just fine for my BRS RO/DI system. This is alot cheaper than purchasing a booster pump for the RO system.

Locate the prv on the water in line. You can set it by adjusting the top screw.{the big one) Just turn it a little and keep an eye on your pressure gauge. YOU shouldn't have to go any higher than 50# but 38# is to low IMO. Not sure this will fix the problem you are having but it is worth a try because it doesn't cost anything but ten minutes of your time. If our on a well you have a pressure switch on the storage tank that may or may not e adjustable.

Where would I look for the valve? Is it the one where the readings are taken out by the street or is it someplace within the house?

it will be in the house on the line that enters from the road. probably in the basement or crawlspace.

My house is built on a slab. I found a regulator next to the hot water heater that has a tag that says it has a range from 25 to 75. There is a screw on the top but no kind of guage to show what it's currently set at. Would that be what you're talking about?

thats the one use your rodi gauge for the pressure setting. Make sure it is on.

It probably looks something like this.

OK...that's what mine looks like. I turned it up so that the guage now reads about 50#. I'll need to wait until the container is almost full and the float valve starts to shut down as that's when it usually occurs. I did notice when adjusting the valve that I had to turn it clockwise to raise the pressure. I was expecting to turn it counter-clockwise like opening a water spigot. FYI I'll post when I know for sure so that you and others will know if this fixed it. I sure hope so.

That vibration has nothing to do with your water pressure - sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. Are you still dealing with the issue?

Yes I am

OK - what you are hearing is the mechanism inside the ASOV repeatedly trying to close. This can sometimes be caused by:
a float valve that is leaking
a float valve in turbulent water that is repeatedly opening and closing
a bad check valve
a bad ASOV
