Morning!

I am hoping to start mixing water this weekend. However, I first have to straighten out my RO/DI unit. I bought it used, replaced the cartridge filters, but still only get down to about 20 ppm. I'm guessing that the ro membrane is shot, so it is my next purchase. I was told that my unit is a 100 gpd unit. It has an adjustable flow control on the waste water line (is that the normal location for the flow restrictor? Assuming that it is located in the right spot, shouldn't I be able to get a membrane of my choosing? Thinking aboout getting an 80 gpd membrane. It shoukd work as long as I adjust the flow correctly, right?

Thanks for your input!

Yes, as long as the flow restrictor matches the GPD of the membrane, you can upgrade/downgrade as you wish.

Thanks Jenn! Glad to see you are not gone forever.

My assumption for adjusting the restrictor is that I can measure the pace of the good water produced. I think if I restrict the flow such that my rate of RODI is around 80 gpd, I should be set.

Hmm there are a lot of variables that will affect the actual amount of water produced, including source water quality and temperature.

For the $4 or so to buy a new flow restrictor along with the membrane, I'd recommend that. It's better than guesswork.
