ok im thinking about buying a system. cant afford the top of the line.
which unit would you get for around $100-$150?
i have a fish and beginner corals like zoa's and mushrooms.
is it a must to have/use DI?
im planning on hooking this up to my washing machine inlet, and the waste water will hit the washing machine. anybody set theres up like that too? care to share a few pics so i can see how you did it?

purewaterclub on ebay has some good ones in that range. Check all fittings to be sure they are tightened properly and go. I have one at work for that tank that I just remembered I forgot to turn off and one at home for my tanks. Well worth the money

I think Air, Wate & Ice's Typhoon III (75 gpd) is around that range. Mine is a real champ. It takes 36 ppm intake to 0 ppm ougoing (pure) water! It's designed to produce 3 gph at 50 psi but since I have higher water pressure, I get better results...more like 10 gph. http://www.airwaterice.com">www.airwaterice.com</a> (I think that's right)

As for hooking up to the washing machine...I did mine that way once and it worked fine. You just had to remember to turn the water on when you washed clothes! You can get a Y ball valve and turn each on independently..that helped. The Typhoon III comes with a water line connector and waste water return connector so you could connect under sink. It has an auto shut off valve already installed. Just connect it to a sink mounted RO faucet and you're good to go!

My 150gpd Pure Water Club unit makes about 5 gallons per hour. Input water is 77ppm, output is 00ppm.

You can get cheaper units on ebay for $60-70. If you're budgeting $150, you might want to consider a booster pump- they allow you to meet (or exceed) the rated capacity on the RO unit.

I wouldn't say that DI is a necessity, but given that my resins do change color, and thus are pulling out stuff, I feel much better about having them there.
