Just got a new Ro system and was wondering the best way to install it to my water heater pipes which are plastic not copper. Also is there a break in period for a Ro system cause i do not have a Tds yet.
If the pipes are PVC, I'd shut off the supply, cut the pipe and plumb in a T and a ball-valve, then a threaded end which could attach to your RO/DI system. It's not incredibly complicated.
Can you post a photo of your water heater so we can better understand were you want to tie into the lines? It is possible to tie into the COLD water line. I added a hose bib to the incoming cold water line to the water heater for my RO system. As noted above, if there is plastic pipe serving the water heater it will be CPVC which needs a different glue and fittings. I tied my waste line into the water heater CPVC T&P line to get it out of the mechanical room.
U asked for a break-in period... My system documentation recommended to throw away the first 5 gallons of treated water. You'd be surprised how dirty the first batch of waste water is as well. Gotta clean the filters so-to-speak for the break-in.
