Yep. I test the water going in from the tap, coming out from the RO and coming out from the DI resin. If the membrane's good, it'll read 1 or 2 ppm TDS. As soon as it gets up to 3 on a regular basis, I order a new one and install it when the TDS coming out is 5 ppm. As long as the DI catches it, I'm good (final number has to read 0) but I'll let my RO membrane get up to 5 before I swap it out. I also 2nd the manual flush, I've been told it's worth every penny because it really extends the membrane life and I've never run without one.
