Rock flower tank

What will be the best substrate for a rock flower farm tank? People been saying Lava rock or pond matrix. The tank I’m setting up is a all in one. I don’t want to put any reef rock structure's in the tank. I want to wear it easy to remove the rock flowers we needed. I’m thinking some type of pebbles, but porous to be able to hold beneficial bacteria.

I think matrix is a great substrate idea, I've got some in all of my tanks.

smoother rocks will be beneficial when you have to move a nem thats on multiple rocks. Much easier to peal them off without damaging the foot.
