RODI and your water Bill

I have been making my own water for about 2 months. I make roughly around 100g a month x the waste water which would be 300g. My monthly water bill has shot up to 200 and 300 a month the last 2 months. I did have a a flood issue twice when the unit failed and went every where.

So my question is if I'm making the above water a month how much should it cost me? I'm trying to figure it out so I can get my water bill back down. I know different areas have a different price for their water, so just trying to get an estimate.

Thanks

Your bill went up that much? Something is terribly wrong then. I make at least that amount of water and my bill may have jumped up $30...maybe $40 tops (hard to tell sometimes when you have two 4 yr old kids in the house).

Yea, I'd check your water line you might have a leak. I had a leak and didn't even know it for about two months until it finally exploded and shot out of the ground. Even then my water bill wasn't that high.

My bill was $126 for 18,000 gallons (two leaks and a close to 8 hour day of water shoot basically straight out of the meter). I'd hate to see how much water your using.

I make about the same amount of water per month and my bill is $30-$35. I had a toilet that was left running for a week or so and the bill shot up to $90 and I freaked out...I couldnt imagine a $300 water bill.

You need to see where that water is going. My bill was only $85 after filling a 2200+ gallon pond and the hot tub, which is another 800 gallons. And you know how much water I run in the RO.

Doesn't your water bill detail how many gallons used in the billing period? I used 7610 gallons last month and my bill was 77.55. Maybe you should find your meter and see if it's spinning like a top. Turn off all water in the home and then check it again. If it's still showing consumption, then you have a leak somewhere, which must be the case.

Wow, that is still a lot. Gwinnett County charges 14.02 for 0-8000 gallons.

I know. When I moved to Highlands from MS. I could not believe how high it was. I paid $12.00 for 2,000 gallons and then $1 for every 1,000 after that. But then, everything in Highlands, NC is ridiculous. Before the bubble burst it was the highest property value in NC. Don't know where it is now, but they ain't giving them away.

Something else to consider is the water company may be charging you a "peak month" fee. Mine did the first year I was in my home because they based my bill off average gallons used in the winter and then compared it with summer.

Well, because no one lived in my home over the winter, the bill was 0 gallons used. When we bought in April of 2007, we began using water. Our summer "average" that year was about 6000 gallons (I was doing a lot of sod work). They charged us $20 each ($40 total) for every 1000 gallons over our winter average after 2000 gallons. Our bill that month was $200 and my wife an I nearly croaked. The next year it came down though.

Since I've had my tank the highest bill we've had is $75 and that was this past may when I forgot about the RODI for a day. Oops.

Definitely call the company. Something ain't right.

yeah something is very wrong there, I make at least 200g of RODI every month(meaning at least 800g of water use) along with regular house use and filling up my hot tub once a month and my bill is never more then $45

Do you have a shut off valve on the system that stops the flow of waste water when the flow of purified water is stopped?

Is that automatic shut off valve working?

It may be that you were running waste water down the drain 24/7 for the whole month.

My thoughts as well. Learned it the hard way.

I helped him set that baby up,
the IN line of the water is manually cut off when not in use - so running unnoticed is out of the equation...

You have a water leak somewhere. Turn off your house water at the main shutoff inside the house, then go to your outside meter and see if the 'lil triangular flow indicator is still spinning. It should be. If you have a leak, get it fixed, and call your water supplier and ask for credit from the excess amount of water you are being charged for. You will have to show documentation of the repair. You should receive a credit for the excess water amount on future water bills.

The above is what I did and got from the Atlanta water company when I had a leak in my line and had a high water bills.

Acroholic didn't we already discuss this. LOL One other thing all of you can try. If you are on city or county sewer, they charge you for the sewer based on the gallons of water you use. They figure if you run water through the house it is going down the sink or the toilet no matter what. If you can find a way to document how much water went into the aquarium and that all PWC water and the waste water from the RO/DI didn't go down the sewer you may get a bit of a credit.

All of you guys make me feel good. My bill is $12.00 per month and I have a wife and three daughters!!!! Man, women take a lot of showers.

SSDD Same Subject, Different Discussion! You'll be amazed how often we repeat ourselves on this forum. Same questions or same topic but different thread.
