RODI question

I have this extra unit laying around the house now-and was thinking about putting it under my sink; I 've gota guy to put it in, but was wondering if I was sapposed to take off the DI part of the filter?? I've heard it makes the water taste REAL bad, but not sure where I heard that/if it's true, lol; any experience?? FYI we were gonna put it under the sink w/ the pressure tank...

I have my RO/DI under the sink and use it for drinking and my tank. Never had any problems with the taste.
