Is it safe to use to fill a tank for a water test?

I was wanting to test the seals on a used tank but didn’t want to run all that rodi as it is 120.

I am going to have to mix up that much salt so I thought maybe while I mix salt I could use water there instead of just watering yard plants. Just was concerned as would that be just like using tap water and potentially lead to algae?

Empty tank with no rock or sand? Use tap water. It's not going to absorb into any of the glass or silicone. Then when you drain it, just dry off what's visible.

Nope, no issues with it. I tested all my tanks plumbing and seals with tap water and I know many other reefers that did as well with no issues.

Agreed.

And if you still feel nervous, you could use a water conditioner afterwards... but its not necessary.
