I have about 100 lbs. of live rock in a temporary 46 gallon tank (lights, heater, etc.) while my son and I work on building a sump for our 65 gallon.
Came home from work today and it appears our 300W heater overheated our temporary 46 gallon tank to almost 90 degrees.
It's frustrating because the heater is not very old, but it has been in storage for a couple of years.
Looks like it's time for a new heater!
