So we bought a rose bta from cliff yesterday, and we where having trouble getting it to stay on an island rock so it wouldn't sting the coral. Finally we got it to stay in a corner, it hadn't moved so we thought it would be ok. So we get up this morning and the aquaclear filter murdered almost half of it and and most of the tenacles are gone T_T. We think its alive because its moving what tenacles it has left and there isn't any water flow, any ideas?

Sorry to hear that....I would turn off the filter and power head for now untill I see the BTA settles....I ususally leave my things off overnight and turn them on during the day while I can observe its behavior.

Okay so i made a make shift holding container for him to stay in. My question is how will i know if he is gonna make it?? Are they pretty tough creatures?? He got messed up pretty bad but he is crawling around. Im assuming thats a good sign, do you think its possible he will recover.

They are pretty tough... one member had a RBTA do the powerhead suicide thing, and all three pieces survived. I don't recommend that as a way to frag an anemone, however.

Lol i hear Ya. I was just curious as to what its chances might be. Also would there be anything i can do to increase its chances to survive??

Best thing now is to leave it be and let it heal. the container is a good idea too.
it'll be alright. after a week you might try feeding it a piece of krill or something small to get it goin good again

Okay ill try that. Its moving around on its own in the container so im guessing thats a good sign.

thats good.. and it was an aquaclear so all it did was get stuck in the intake near the bottom right? atleast it wasn't a powerhead next to the impeller lol

Lol true. I got up extra early this morning to see how he was doing and was like OMG!!! But Yea he was just stuck in the bottom part. If it cant regenerate a part will it just drop it off?? I ask cause there is 1 piece that isnt looking good

i would assume it would but idk i haven't had that problem yet... hopefully never... hopefully i'll cut mine up myself so it know better not to get to close to a powerhead and that its painful lol

Ya that was my plan to originally but looks like he wanted to try it earlier. Well heres hoping he makes it threw his fight with the aquaclear

BTA's are some of the hardiest of the anemones. Sounds like it will be fine. Take a piece of some pantyhose and wrap around the intake on the powerhead and aquaclear untill the anemone finds its home.
