I’ve read these 3 excellent articles:

Who is currently running ozone and can write a short feedback?
I’m specifically interested in benefit vs. cost vs. risk. Also, the effect it has (or can have) on equipment as in skimmers etc.

i heard about the benefits of using ozone at macna. i purchased a small generator soon after. i'm running ozone on a small display tank with sump. i run it through the skimmer and don't measure orp. the system is lightly stocked with three pj cardinals, a rainsford goby and one shrimp. i wanted the ozone to clean up the algae growth that become more noticible after i started feeding more frequently.

when i first set up the ozone, the sides of tube feeding the skimmer cup became noticibly more dark and the skimmate became less dark. since the tank is small and there is coralline algae on the glass, i didn't know if the water was yellowish before i hooked up the ozone. however, if it was yellow that is no longer the case. the water appears to be crystal clear now. just recently, the skimmate being produced is also now more clean, no more dark or light tea color. also the diatoms that inhabited the sump have gone missing. as for the algae, it looks like they've been held in place. i'm hoping for it to go the other way and to have algae start disappearing from the display tank.

I just started running ozone about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Theres a significant difference in clarity. I run it into the skimmer and it releases out of the collection cup threw some carbon. On my 90 gallon with 30 gallon refugium I run my ozone at about 35% 24hrs a day. No bad effects on corals so far everythings is great. Im finally seeing clearly now....LOL I have a MRC skimmer with injection port for the ozone.
