Anybody use Salifert tests for Magnesium or Strontium? When filling up the 1ml syringe to drip into the cup it has an airgap of 20%. The instructions seem to be aware of this fact, but 20% seems crazy.

It is ok. It is just the air that occupies the unmeasured space inthe needle-like thingie. The readings are still consistent as long as you dont accidentally squirt air out (impossible unless you hold it upright)

Since the air is not forced to contract or expand in the syringe, the volume you vacuum into the syringe will be the same as the liquid drawn into the needle.

Maybe I worded that weird, but basically dont worry...it works

ok. why we can't fill it with a ml of liquid and measure exactly doesn't really make sense to me, but wth.
have you used the strontium test?
I'm not sure i'm catching the color change to know when to stop dripping for the calc test. the color changes were very subtle

Sorry, I dont use the strontium test (I dont test for stront at all) but I do use teh KH test, which works the same way.
