ok lets open up a can of worms What do you us and think is the best salt mix for a reef tank

I wish the answer was as simple as the question. I think personal preferance plays a huge role in picking a favorite. To call something the "best" is somewhat subjective. I'd say pick a company that you feel comfortable with and run with it. They all have ups and downs.

Edit: I actually think that blending two different brands is a good idea. I blend IO and salinity.

I'm with ripped tide on that one. I use red sea coral pro. I do like the salt but its not like it does magical things in the water. I still have to dose like crazy.

Whatever is newest I guess. They will all betray you at some point in time.

Seachem salts are my favorite. Great salt and great local company (and club sponsor).

E.S.V. B-Ionic Seawater System Salt Mix....love it espcially if you have SPS's or a heavily stocked tank. Its a little bit more expensive but I feel it was well worth the price.

Aquavitro (Seachem) Salinity. I get consistent SG readings every time I mix unlike Instant Ocean, the lab analysis of levels are printed on the side, and it comes in a great bucket. Plus as Skriz stated its a Georgia company so every purchase the local and state economy.

Here's a poll from a few years ago :)
