Give us some details of what you have in the tank. THis is a great read on types of filtration!

WetWebMedia is a great source ot answer your questions! I learn something everytime I read them!

i got a 10 gallon aquarium with only about 8 pounds of live rock about 20 pounds of live sand 2 clownfish ,xenia, torch coral, zoos, 320 micro jet, 5-15 whisper pump, pc 48 watt light

For a 10GAL just a HO filter with carbon/filter cartridges would be fine. One thing with a small nano tnak is water changes are more important than anything. I would do at least 2GAL a week, making sure the new water is at the same temp as your tank. Small systems leave little room for changes in temp/PH/etc. Good luck!

Some Seachem Purigen in the filter would be beneficial as well.

When i had the basic 10gal setup i never used the filters i just bought a small media bag and filled with carbon and changed about every three weeks, got rid of it though to go bigger, the carbon can absorb (a little) the work of a skimmer on the smaller tanks not all but will do for a 10gal.

Good Luck Chris
